Tabitha Senior Care’s vision for a vibrant community, catering to retirees and Bryan College of Health Sciences students, is realized in their 128-unit apartment building –  S²age Independent Living by Tabitha. This project offers living spaces and environments for residents to come together through cooking, dining, education, and training, with activities like daily breakfast in the Café, Husker Watch Parties, exercise classes, and knitting circles. Spanning 150,880 square feet, the building includes thoughtfully designed apartments, underground parking, bike storage, and a central common area featuring entertainment and dining areas, workout and yoga rooms, a classroom, and a fireplace area overlooking the south-facing outdoor space.

Outdoor amenities include a dog run and a rooftop terrace with grill stations and entertainment space, offering panoramic views. The design integrates with the residential area through traditional fiber cement siding, brick veneer, and gabled roofs. Partnering with the client, the interior design team created a welcoming community space with warm colors, wood elements, and intentional depth in materials, fostering an atmosphere akin to a local industrial coffee shop. Features like vaulted wood ceilings, a brick fireplace, and a mix of materials add coziness and interest, while a modern palette with wayfinding colors enhances functionality and visual appeal.
