Calvary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum Unveils Plans for The Baldacchino – Davis Design

At the Calvary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum’s Memorial Day Celebration, the Bishop of Lincoln revealed a new project that will undoubtedly capture the hearts of the Lincoln community. Introducing “The Baldacchino”, an awe-inspiring outdoor structure and altar designed by Davis Design. 

Inspired by the iconic baldachin at Saint Peter’s Basilica, “The Baldacchino” will serve as a symbol of remembrance for beloved family members and friends. This remarkable centerpiece will provide a protective shelter for the altar, establishing a sacred space for introspection, solace, and prayer. 

Three columbariums will be positioned around the altar, with one specifically serving as a backdrop, contributing to the perpetuation of the cemetery by providing over 450

internment locations. 

The altar will be adorned with a granite cross and a striking bronze corpus, exuding an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. The canopy will feature meticulously crafted laser-cut designs with a copper-plated finish, adorned with symbology representing each of the parishes within the Lincoln area of the Diocese.
